Sustainability is not a specification we bolt on at the end of a project. It is the attitude that shapes the first sketch — and on this island it mostly means designing for the climate we actually have, before reaching for a bigger air-conditioning unit.
A building that stays comfortable without fighting its own site, and that is still worth maintaining in twenty years, is the most sustainable thing we can hand a client. That is the ambition behind each of the commitments below.
- Life-enhancing
- Rooms that hold the right light at the right hour, and comfort that does not depend on machinery running constantly. Quality of everyday life is the measure, not the certificate.
- Enduring
- We design for longevity rather than for the photograph. Materials chosen to age well in Mediterranean salt and sun, details drawn so they can be maintained rather than replaced.
- Climate-first
- Orientation, mass, shade and cross-ventilation come before mechanical systems. On Cyprus, the sun is fought for eight months and invited back for four — the plan should do most of that work.
- Holistic
- Architecture, structure and MEP resolved together in one model, so an energy decision is not undone by a structural one two weeks later.
- Responsible
- Accountability to the plot, the neighbours and the people who will run the building — including the honest conversation about what a measure costs and what it actually saves.
